Fire Update 4pm Tuesday

While driving around town running errands today I managed to snap a few pictures of the skies to the north and south of Menifee. The two pictures here are from Sun City toward Orange County/LA area. The wind is blowing south toward us from those areas but the smoke is really not as bad as I thought it would be. As we were driving around I heard on talk radio that firefighters have said that what they need most right now is "a streak of good luck". There have been serious flare-ups in the north which was just beginning to get under control and the newest count is that 1300 homes have been lost.
One very hard-hit area is in and around Lake Arrowhead in the San Bernardino mountains where we spent Thanksgiving last year. The small town of Running Springs which is one of the cutest mountain towns I've ever seen also lost 100 homes.
It's devastating to see the amount of destruction bearing down on all these different communities. Quite a few of these fires are under suspision of arson which boggles the mind.
The fire that threatens Fallbrook on the east end of Camp Pendleton was started by downed power lines due to the high winds.
